SouWEST has released a report summarising some of the research on whales they have been busy conducting in Geographe Bay.
The report includes an overview of recordings of whale vocalisations since 2008, vessel surveys conducted in 2013, and land-based sightings from above Pt. Piquet carried out between 2010 and 2013.
The report can be downloaded here or from our Publications page. Producing the report and the 2013 field season was made possible through the support of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
Every year, SouWEST builds on its long-term dataset. It is currently being used to develop advanced approaches to abundance estimation, build knowledge of the life history of animals using the bay, and to understand the context in which animals vocalise.
