SouWEST was excited to be part of a special Whale Dreaming Day for Pioneers WA Aboriginal Corporation hosted with the Undalup Association Inc and Dumbartung Aboriginal Corporation in the south west recently!

Elders, kids and community, scientists, agencies, local government and businesses came together for a collaborative day of whale culture, science and community.

We went whale watching from land and boat, learnt about whales from Elders, heard about the whale research from SouWEST scientists and monitored whales with SouWEST citizen scientists!

The day highlighted the importance of bringing cultural connections, science and community together to learn from each other about whales and how to protect them.
